GAM3R 7H30RY 1.1

The Institute for the Future of the Book has created a project, GAM3R 7H30RY 1.1, a "networked" book that is being co-written by the author, McKenzie Wark, and online readers everywhere. The book's subject is computer games, and Wark’s objectives are:
1. Can we explore games as allegories for the world we live in?
2. Can there be a critical theory of games?
The Institute has teamed up with McKenzie to see what happens when authors and readers collaborate and converse about an evolving text. When the book is eventually finished, it will be published in print the conventional way. The end goal, however, is to examine the process of writing a book--rather than the product of the book itself--and the role of the author, to see the evolutions the book takes as the collaborations progress.

If such projects catch on, books may be written by masses of authors, with contributions made on a global level!
