For those of you who haven't
heard, author
Mickey Spillane has died. Spillane, born Frank Morrison Spillane, passed away Monday, July 17, at the age of 88, after a long illness. During his lifetime of
writing, Spillane received awards from the Mystery Writers of America and the Private Eye Writers of America. Most of Spillane's books revolved around the character of Mike Hammer, a tough-as-nails gumshoe who fought crime the hard way, and even got his own TV show. Spillane’s
titles are great summer reading for adults, so check one out today.

Having just moved to Columbus from the Nyrtle Beach, SC area I was most saddend by his passing. He was a residnet of Myrtle Beach and a real celebrity of the area.
We agree, Susan, that his passing was a real loss. The literary world will certainly miss him!
