Offbeat Vacation Destinations

Even though we're halfway through summer, it's not too late to take a vacation! And when it comes to vacations, why not be creative and go somewhere off the beaten path? The library has some great guidebooks to get to the oddest and most unique vacation spots ever. For starters, try Superlatives USA: The Largest, Smallest, Longest, Shortest, and Wackiest Sites in America by Melissa L. Jones. There's also Eccentric America: The Bradt Guide to All That's Weird and Wacky in the USA. Find odd festivals, off-beat environments, outsider art, bizarre endeavors and eccentric people in all 50 states. And if you're still wanting more unique destinations, there's always the website Roadside America. Many of the submissions are from readers, so you never know what you might find. Happy traveling!
