Caterwaul's Latest Book Review

I really like history, I enjoy archeology, and I love a good mystery. That's why the book The Orkney Scroll by Lyn Hamilton was such a fun match for me! Apparently there is a whole series of books about Lara McClintock, an antique dealer in Toledo, Ohio. I have already reserved another one in the series to read. This one is about a writing desk that was supposedly made by a famous Art Deco designer in Scotland. Lara verifies its authenticity for a good client of hers, resulting in his purchasing the desk. He has a big party to celebrate his new acquisition and, realizing there that it is a fake, he destroys it dramatically with an axe! The next day, the dealer who sold him the desk is found dead in his shop's basement with an axe in his skull. Lara ends up travelling to Scotland (cool!) to find clues about the real writing desk, the forgery, and what happened to them both. This was a great summertime book for those of you who are too busy to concentrate on heavy stuff!
