The Independent has published some
great science experiments that they encourage readers of all ages to try at home. If you want more experiments to try, don't forget that the library has a ton of books for science experiments. Some really fun titles are
Smash It! Crash It! Launch It!: 50 Mind-Blowing, Eye-Popping Science Experiments by Rain Newcomb;
Cool Chemistry Concoctions: 50 Formulas That Fizz, Foam, Splatter & Ooze by Joe Rhatigan; and
100 Science Experiments by Georgina Andrews. A real gem of a book on experiments is
Chemical Magic by Leonard A. Ford. It was first published in 1959 and has those kind of experiments that kids of all ages will enjoy, such as purple smoke bombs and expanding foams! And there's also the
Science Fair Projects Index, an online database created by CML librarians that is an invaluable resource when it comes time for those science fair projects. What better way to spend a summer day with a child than by doing something fun and educational? So go experiment!
